Founded in 1957 out of the need to provide a good fit.

Grown into a manufacturer of fashion, comfort, and semi-orthopedic shoes.

Piedro was founded in 1957 by Mr. W. Struijs Sr. He started by producing well-fitting shoes for people with foot problems. At that time, there were no shoes available for people with mild foot complaints. People with foot complaints were quickly given orthopedic shoes that were considered unfashionable. Although the name Piedro sounds very French, it is a quintessentially Dutch brand. “Pied” means foot in French, and Ro are the first two letters of the city of Rotterdam, where it all began! This soon grew into an extensive and beautiful shoe collection for women, men, and children, where the shoes were made in various widths in addition to standard lengths. Piedro was the first shoe manufacturer to make children's shoes in 5 widths with a removable footbed.
