Shoes.be - Barometer I

This is the first barometer from Shoes.be. Over the past few months, we have collected information on shoe stores, shoemakers, shoe brands, and agents. We found 746 shoe stores and 1,819 brands, and were able to establish 21,478 relationships between stores and brands. The database also includes 108 shoemakers.

We found 49 groups of 2 or more stores.

Stores that sell exclusively online are not included in the database, nor are large chains such as INNO or C&A.

The most popular brands fall under the 'comfort shoes' category, with brands such as Mephisto, Gabor, Rieker, etc.

Most brands come from Italy, followed by Spain, France, and the Netherlands.

The province with the most shoe stores is West Flanders. The province with the fewest shoe stores is Luxembourg.

This Barometer will form the basis for further future research into the dynamics of the Belgian shoe market.
